ANTONIO FORTE TRANSPLANT FUND TRUST - 8 mos post update!
ANTONIO FORTE TRANSPLANT FUND TRUST - Please help us , by helping him!

8 months update 4/23/17

Tony w/Dr. Vianna of the Miami Transplant Institute

Earlier today we had routine transplant labs and clinic with Dr. Garcia... all labs were within normal ranges, will give Neupogen injections and will get another set of labs later this week ...watching very closely the chimerism numbers but other than that everything is looking great, Dr. Garcia told us "both Tony and the donor organs are working great for each other" - I kept thinking God has a beautiful way of doing things like that!" Never does a minute go by that we don't think of our donor and his family and how we pray for them and know that God has them surrounded with love and compassion...

We will be admitted Sunday afternoon (4/23/17) for a complete bowel washout, IVIG infusion and then Tony will head to the Special Procedures Room on the PICU Pediatric Transplant Floor for a routine endoscope where biopsies will be obtained while Tony will be sedated for the procedure , he will also have a bone marrow biopsy performed just to have and as along as he is up and walking afterward well be sent back to the RV at the campground. Dr. Garcia and our Pediatric Transplant Coordinator Deanna will be scheduling Tony's anorectal manometry for sometime in May 2017 that will take place at the Arnold Palmer's Children's Hospital in Orlando and when results comeback with positive news that his rectum may have function and to how much, ideally Dr. Garcia will/is pushing for a first-ever "pull thru" or reconnection surgery of his newly transplanted colon to the his native rectum since he will be soon a year post transplant come this August 23rd sometime in June (Tony did mention that it would be a nice birthday present for him to get reconnected-his 12th birthday will be June 19th)...

We will have to wait an see what the study shows and what the other surgeons on the transplant team have to say, as they have the final word... as I stated last week once I feel and see their confidence about the idea only then will we ... (My gut has NEVER failed me throughout his journey and my take on it all, is once the study is performed the results I'm predicting is that he will have function there ) we will keep everyone posted. This will mean that our stay here in Florida will be extended before we can think of going home...all of the recuperation depends solely on Tony and the confidence of his transplant team...

I will be making arrangements with the campground to extend the stay , we are hopeful that God will have the RV arrangement worked out and we'll be able to stay in it without moving everything out into something else- its ideal for Tony and our family, however if God intends something else, we will just follow his lead. The boys are doing well, we have extended family Briggs/Kauffman Casa within the area who have opened their home to us so the boys can fish, swim, relax and I can cook the entire families "home-cooked" meals that I so miss doing as a Mom as we are limited in the RV...but we manage...

We have so much to be THANKFUL for to our Lord and Savior for especially in the month of the National Donate Life Month....all month long we will sharing heartfelt and touching stories of other families we have come to know and love, all who have either received an organ(s) and tissue, donor families and their heroic choice to keep the spirit alive in the saving of a life or lives and to those who are waiting, those who have been recently transplanted and to those who memories will last forever a they too are heroes in their remarkable bravery and courageous fight to the end!

Above is a picture of the Chief and Surgeon of the Intestinal and Multi-Visceral Department of the Miami Transplant Institute of the UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital.. Dr. Rodrigo Vianna one of Tony's surgeons that night along with Dr. Bedushi and Dr. Takin These surgeons will ALWAYS hold a special place in hearts and family for helping save Tony's life here in Miami, again "How do you truly THANK someone or somebodies in helping save the life of our child?"

The next few months will be filled with hope in another freedom that Tony never had, the ability to do what the normal function of the human body is intended to do, we have faith in our Lord and Savior who has lead us here where we are today and to this AMAZING team and will allow them to do what they were all blessed to do and that is to save lives!

Their motto is "Miracles made daily!" and with Tony just look at the proof! We also THANK YOU all who have sent donations to the gofundme, have been hosting events on behalf of Tony and who have personally sent donations to his trust... This ensures that Tony recuperation needs can be met, it so imperative to keep him near the center throughout this process and without your love and generous support these past months it wouldn't be possible...

Anyone wishing to help us with this great need please visit Tony's gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/Tony-Forte-he-s-our-brother and or here is his website where donations can be accepted. Both pages have been linked up to Tony's Special Needs Trust where the monies have been aiding all of tony's pre and post transplant medical related expenses that NO insurance will cover! Its been difficult for us here to host fundraisers like we did back home and that's why we urge that if you feel compelled to host some back home, your thoughtfulness and generosity will not go without notice.

Any donation of $5/$10/$25 or any amount will go a long way to make the post transplant medical expenses a little lighter and easier. To all of my clients THANK YOU for allowing me to help plan magical vacations for you and your entire families... without my commissions and services fees, Tony would not be recuperating in a serene environment, here at the campground God has provided a beautiful place where he and the boys can walk/fish/make friends/have campfires that Tony LOVES and what has been allowing his health and state of mind to be focused on doing what needs to be done as he gets stronger everyday! We LOVE and SO MISS YOU ALL VERY MUCH and CAN'T WAIT too see you all when we do to show him off! He's AMAZING, such and INSPIRATION and one of the loves of my life! Lovingly, the Forte Family! xoxoxoxo
